Storywizard ("Storywizard," "we," or "us") respects your privacy. Storywizard.ai is a first-of-its-kind personalized-learning platform that is transforming education by enabling students to directly shape their learning experiences – and empowering teachers with the tools and the data they need to truly differentiate instruction. This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") governs your access to and use of Storywizard web application and website (collectively, the "Platform"); and describes (i) the types of information we may collect or that you may provide when you download, install, register with, access, or use the Platform; and (ii) our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it.

Capitalized terms that are not explicitly defined herein shall assume the meanings ascribed to them in the Terms of Use found at storywizard.ai/terms ("ToU", and collectively with this Privacy Policy, hereinafter refer to as the "Terms" and all other incorporated documents

If you do not want to agree to the Terms you must not access or use the Platform.

By using the Platform or by clicking to accept or agree to the Terms when this option is made available to you, you accept and agree to be bound and abide by the Terms.

Changes to the privacy policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time and we ask that you check the Privacy Policy periodically for updates which will be reflected in the last updated date. If we make a material change that affects the collection and use of your personal information, we will post notice at the top of this policy and notify you if we have your contact information prior to making the change.

Otherwise, all other changes to this Privacy Policy are effective as of the stated "Last Revised" date and your continued use of the Platform after the Last Revised date will constitute acceptance of, those changes.

1. Which Data We may collect?

We may collect two types of data and information from our users:

1.1 Non-personal Information. The first type is non-identifiable and anonymous information. Non-personal information, which is being gathered, consists of technical information and behavioral information that does not pertain to a specific individual ("Non-Personal Information").

(a) When you access and use the Platform we passively collect certain Non-Personal Information from your devices, including

(i) technical information such as the type and version of your device and its operating system, the type of browser, screen resolution, device browser and keyboard language, Wi-Fi connectivity and the type and name of your device and/or browser, etc.; and

(ii) behavioral information which may include the user's click-stream on the Platform, the activities of the user on the Platform and additional information of a similar nature (collectively, "Technical and Behavioral Information").

(b) We may use third-party service providers to obtain detailed analytics on the device and the user's behavior on the Platform. Please note that we or our third-party service providers will collect such Technical and Behavioral Information by using certain tracking technologies, such as cookies, as further detailed below.

1.2 Personal Information. The second type of information is individually identifiable information ("Personal Information"). This information may identify an individual or may be of a private and/or sensitive nature.

(a) Registration to the Platform.

Parents and Teachers are invited to create accounts on the Platform and provide access to their child or students. Parents provide a full name and email address to create an account which can be shared with their child. Parents can also sign up using our sign in partners, Google, Microsoft and Facebook.

Teachers provide a full name, email address, role, grade taught, school details including school name, district, city, state, country, zip code, school address, and school phone number to create an account. Teachers can also sign in with our sign in partner services Google, Microsoft and Clever.

Teachers and schools must review and agree to our School Agreement prior to adding students.

Once a teacher is registered, students will be provided with a one-time link to access assignments or a SmartLink with classroom code where they will be asked to login via our sign in partners Google, Microsoft or Clever.

(i) Personal Information which you provided voluntarily.

(ii) Communications with Storywizard. Personal Information provided us as part of any communications with Storywizard, by any means, including by contacting us via the Platform or email, approaching our customer services or during sales calls or through our social network pages (such information may include marketing and communication data that includes your preferences in receiving marketing from us and your communication preferences). Please note that we may record calls for quality assurance purposes and in order to improve our services.

(iii) IP/MAC Address. users of the Platform may automatically provide their IP address (or Mac Address, as applicable) and/or advertiser identifier (when available on a device) mainly for enhancing the user's experience and for geo-location and security purposes as further detailed below.

(iv) Geolocation data. while using the Platform we will access, collect, process, monitor and/or remotely store "geolocation data", including through IP analysis, to determine your location, in order to provide you with our services, analytics and security purposes.

(v) Identifiers. we may collect certain unique identifiers, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, your Unique Device Identifier (UDID), or other unique identifiers for security purposes and analytics and in order to provide you with our services via the Platform.

(b) For the avoidance of doubt, any Non-Personal Information connected or linked to any Personal Information shall be deemed as Personal Information as long as such connection or linkage exists.

Information we collect from students

If a teacher has shared a SmartLink with students, they will be asked to provide a full name and email address to access the platform. When creating a story, students can create and save their own stories, write and modify text and record audio for reading assessments.

Stories and audio are only available to the teacher. Teachers can opt to enable a class library to allow other students in the classroom to view each other’s stories.

Storywizard collects the student’s data on behalf of the school and for no other purpose. Any content submitted by the student is not disclosed to any other parties.

No student data is disclosed, sold or used for targeted advertising or commercial purposes.

Accounts will be deemed inactive if there has been no activity for three years or expiration of a subscription, whichever is sooner, at which time we will delete all collected information after delivering notice of the deletion.

If you are a parent and you would like to request to review, access or delete personal information collected from your child, please contact us at support@storywizard.ai.

If you are the parent of a child using Storywizard at school please contact your school to request to review , access or have personal information of your child deleted.

We use the following service providers in relation to children on our website:

  • Google Analytics to better understand use of the service.
  • YouTube to host video content. All content embedded on Storywizard has been flagged as Made for Kids to prevent the collection and use of usage and statistical data by Google.

2. How does Storywizard Collect the Data?

2.1 There are two main methods we use:

(a) We collect information through your entry, connection, installation, access and/or use of the Platform. In other words, when you are using the Platform, we are aware of it and may gather, collect and store the information relating to such usage.

(b) We collect information which you provide us voluntarily. For example, we collect Personal Information when you register and open an account, and upload information to the Platform.

2.2 We may gather, collect, and store such information either independently or through the help of our authorized third-party service providers as detailed below.

3. What are the Purposes of the Data Collection?

3.1 We collect Non-personal Information and Personal Information in order to operate the Platform.

3.2 Non-personal Information is collected in order to:

(a) Use it for statistical and research purposes and for customization and improvement of the Platform.

(b) Improve the quality of the Platform by formulating, customizing, and enhancing the user's experience.

3.3 Personal Information is collected in order to:

(a) Enable the overall operation of the Platform.

(b) Personalize your experience on the Platform.

(c) Improve the quality of the Platform by formulating, customizing and enhancing the user's experience.

(d) Allow us to contact parents and teachers with proposals and tailored information regarding new products, events, offers, services, features, enhancements, special offers, upgrade opportunities, and events of interest etc.

(e) Verify the user when he/she signs into the Platform, as well as verifying user's identity for the purpose of dealing with inappropriate interactions of user and/or fraudulent use of the Platform.

(f) Be able to contact users for the purpose of providing them with technical assistance and support.

(g) Keep the Platform safe and secured and for prevention of fraud and crime.

(h) Maintain our data processing records and general administrative purposes.

(i) Determine general geo-location information (i.e., country) from which the user's computer is connected to the Internet in order for us to know the general location of our Platform's users as well as in order to safeguard our Platform.

4. Sharing Information with Third Parties

4.1 Storywizard may share the Personal Information in the following cases: (a) to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, subpoena, or governmental request; (b) to enforce this Privacy Policy, including investigation of potential violations thereof; (c) to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; (d) to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Storywizard, you, other user or the general public; (e) when Storywizard is undergoing any change in control, including by means of merger, acquisition or purchase of all or substantially all of its assets; or (f) to collect, hold and/or manage it customers data (including their Personal Information) through Storywizard's authorized third party service providers as reasonable for business purposes; or (g) pursuant to your approval prior to the disclosure.

4.2 For the avoidance of doubt, Storywizard may transfer and disclose Non-personal Information to third parties at its own discretion.

5. Deletion or Modification of Personal Information

5.1 In the event parents and teachers wish to modify or delete the Personal Information they have provided us via the Platform they can send us an e-mail of their request to: support@storywizard.ai, and we will modify or delete their Personal Information pursuant to any applicable privacy laws. Please note that the deletion of information from the Platform will not delete it from third parties sources.

5.2 Aggregate and/or anonymous data derived from their account information or from their use of the Platform may remain on Storywizard servers indefinitely. Note that unless they instruct us otherwise, we may retain their Personal Information for as long as permitted under the applicable privacy law.

6. Security

6.1 We take reasonable measures to maintain the security of the information we collect through generally accepted industry standard technologies.

6.2 Please note, however, that there are inherent risks in the transmission of information over the Internet or other methods of electronic storage and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or use will never occur.

7. Third Party Service Providers

7.1 We may use third party service providers, who may collect, store and/or process your Personal Information, as detailed in this Privacy Policy. For information on how we use service providers in relation to student’s please see the section on student data above.

7.2 Note, that we may collect, hold and/or manage Personal Information through our third-party vendors.

8. International Transfers

8.1 The Personal Information processed by us, as detailed in this Privacy Policy, may be transferred to, processed, and stored by Storywizard and/or its service providers on servers and by staff which may be located in countries outside of your jurisdiction.

8.2 BY SUBMITTING PERSONAL INFORMATION THROUGH THE PLATFORM, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE, SUCH TRANSFER, STORING AND/OR PROCESSING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION.

9. Tracking Technologies

9.1 When you access or use the Platform, Storywizard and/or our third party service providers may use industry-wide technologies such as "cookies" or other similar technologies, which store certain local information on your device ("Cookies"), which may enable, inter alia, automatic activation of certain features and make the user's experience and usage simpler, more relevant, convenient and effortless and for security purposes. Such information is locally stored on your computer or on your device.

9.2 Storywizard and/or our third party service providers may access such information. Storywizard and/or our third party service providers may use both session cookies (which expire once you close the Platform) and persistent cookies (which stay on the user's device until he/she deletes them).

9.3 Such Cookies included in the Platform may store non-personal information (such as the different pages viewed by a user within the Platform) as well as user persistent identifier, which will be collected in accordance with the terms specified herein.

9.4 It is easy to prohibit and/or delete the Cookies, inter alia, through the Settings option of your device. Most platforms will allow you to erase cookies from your computer's hard drive or from your device. In order to erase or disable the Cookies you may use the settings option of your device or according to the specific instructions provided by the third party service provider's privacy policy and Terms. However, if you block or erase cookies, or change the settings of your device, your Platform experience may be limited.
